Exchange Cooperation Competition You help a friend wash her car, in exchange, she helps you study for a test. A voluntary action performed in the expectation of getting a reward in return. Cooperation When all your family members share the household chores, they are cooperating to finish the job faster. A form of interaction in which individuals combine their efforts to reach a goal. Competition Two teams compete against each other in a game of tug-of-war in order to win the 1st place trophy. Groups or individuals that work against each other in order to “win” something in return for their efforts.

Conflict Coercion Conformity Two boys got into a fight because they had a conflict over whose turn it was to play the video game. Groups or individuals struggle to achieve the same goal. Violation of the rules is common. Coercion Your parents can coerce you to eat your vegetables by threatening to take away your desert if you don’t clean your plate.
