Note Cards vs. Source Cards

Source Cards – You make a source card for the primary and secondary sources you look at for information. Use MLA for the format on the card. You need to collect information about the source such as author, title of article or book, URL, publisher, etc. In the upper left hand corner put a letter for the source, if it’s the first source, put an A. In the upper right hand corner, put the page number you found the information on…if you have one.

Notetaking-ask some questions… What information does this source give me? Does this source help me answer my question(s)?

Process for making note cards Use 3x5 index cards Create a “Source Card” first For notes, put only ONE main point per card Only include information directly related to your topic Only include essential words & abbreviate when possible (doesn’t have to be complete sentences If you quote directly, use quotation marks.

Speech Assignment: Each student has been given $100 (Best Bucks) to make the world a better place. And, each student must write a speech to persuade other students to give their money to a charity or cause of their choosing.
