Calvin E. Wells, Fire Chief RECOGNIZE AND APPROPRIATE $188,041 FROM 2010 STATE HOMELAND SECURITY (SHSGP) GRANT AND $140,642 FROM 2009 URBAN AREA SECURITY INITIATIVE (UASI) GRANT AND $36,192 FROM 2011 UASI GRANT. Presented by Calvin E. Wells, Fire Chief Fire Department January 14, 2013 City Council

Background For the past several years the City Of Pasadena has received grant funding from SHSGP and UASI. To improve/enhance emergency response for terrorist-related activity. All funds being made available at this time are the result of reprogramming unspent funds from other jurisdictions.

Recommendation Recognize $188,041 from the 2010 State Homeland Security Grant (SHSGP) and appropriate these funds to the Fire Department’s fiscal year 2013 operating budget, Fire Grant Fund (230). Funds will be used for terrorist intervention equipment for Police and for interoperable communications equipment for the Fire Department Recognize $140,642 from the 2009 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant (UASI) and appropriate these funds to the Fire Department’s fiscal year 2013 operating budget, Fire Grant Fund (230). Funds will be used by the Fire Department for equipment for the USAR program.

Recommendation Recognize $36,192 from the 2011 Urban Area Security Initiative Grant (UASI) and appropriate these funds to the Fire Department’s fiscal year 2013 operating budget, Fire Grant Fund (230). Funds will be used by Police counter terrorism training.
