Perspective A technique which creates the illusion of depth on flat surfaces.

Brunelleschi The man who developed the technique called Perspective.

Linear Perspective A perspective where all receding lines meet at a single point.

Masaccio The man who developed the technique called Linear Perspective.

Vanishing Point The point on the horizon where receding parallel lines seem to meet.

Horizon Line The eye-level line on which you place your vanishing point, or where the sky meets the earth.

Parallel Lines Lines running side by side that never intersect or cross.

One Point Perspective An area of view seen from the object’s side (has one vanishing point and no corner)

Two Dimensional Flat; has height and width but not depth. (2-D)

Three Dimensional Having height, width, and depth. (3-D)

Eye Level The level at which you see the horizon line.

Horizontal Movement Shows lengthwise movement (left to right).

Vertical Shows up and down movement (north and south).
