Elissa Newman Physics

Am I in the right place? CP Physics Honors physics credit can be earned Have you taken biology and chemistry? Should you be a junior or senior? Do you have 1st semester physics credit? Should you be in AP physics?

What will I be doing this year? Measuring things Analyzing data Using equations Solving problems Reading about physics Learning about how the world around you functions

Units/Topics Fall Semester: Kinematics Forces and Newton’s Laws Rotational Motion Energy, Work, and Power Momentum and Impulse Spring Semester: Electrostatics Electric Potential and Current Magnetism and Electromagnetism Waves and Sound Light and Optics Thermodynamics Nuclear and Modern

Who is Mrs. Newman? I want ( some / all ) of my students to be successful. Extra help is available before and after school. Test reviews are held at 6:45 on all test days.

Who is Mrs. Newman? This is my ( 2nd / 10th / 17th ) year teaching.

What will be expected of me in physics? Do your best. Participate. Ask questions. Communicate problems immediately. Bring your scientific calculator daily.

What will be expected of me in physics? Make the classroom a good learning environment for everyone. Follow all school rules.

Today’s Objective: Practice good measuring techniques and working as a team. (count off for groups.) Today’s Question: How does drop height affect bounce height? Hypothesis: If. . . . . . . . . .then. . . . . . . . . . .

What to accomplish today: Go to the station of the number you called off. Complete the meet and greet activity (5 min max). Choose a facilitator to turn in meet and greet activity to me. Facilitator will sign up the group and get the supplies. Must complete procedure through step 4. Your goal should be to get as much of the graph completed as possible.

Heading: Upper right corner First and Last name Period Date Turn into the Work to Hold basket. Put all materials away. Put all chairs back if you moved them. Make sure your work station is clean.
