Do Now: Classify the states of Matter? Baking Soda: Vinegar: Co2:

Do Now: Classify the states of Matter? Baking Soda  Solid Vinegar  Liquid Co2  Gas

Volcano Experiment Essential Question: What are the end products when you mix sodium bicarbonate and acetic acid?

What is our Reactants? Reactant: a substance that takes part in and undergoes change during a reaction. What is being mixed?

What are the products produced?

What happened? Chemical Reaction (Rxn): a process that involves rearrangement of the molecular as opposed to a change in physical form or a nuclear reaction. This means that the molecules are interacting by coming apart and coming together to create new molecules. (Like Legos)

How does this apply to the law of conservation of mass? Look at your notes and compare how the law of conservation of mass and chemical reactions are related? Write a summary of a minimum of 3 sentences in notebook. When asked to by teacher you will think pair share.
