National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) Drafted Year:1969 National Legislation By Hyunseok Lee Per.6 04/30/09

NEPA First laws ever written for protecting the environment. assure that all branches of government give proper consideration to the environment. promote informed decision-making by federal agencies by making "detailed information concerning significant environmental impacts" available to both agency leaders and the public.

NEPA NEPA’s procedural requirements apply to all federal agencies in the executive branch. Environmental Assessments (EAs) and Environmental Impact Statements (EISs) EA and EIS are documents required by NEPA. EA determines whether EIS is required. EIS is a tool for decision-making; EIS describes the positive and negative environment effects of proposed agency action.
