2 Legislation Info: Name: The National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) Draft Year: January 1st, 1970 National or International: U.S. environmental law, although more than 100 nations across the world have modeled legislation after NEPA Function: enhancement of environment through outlining environmental goals, established the President’s Council on Environmental Quality

3 Effect on Environmental Issues
Enforcer: Council on Environment Quality that oversees environmental efforts, collects environmental impact assessments Function: Requires federal agencies to create environmental impact statements (EIS) in order to recieve federal fund, ensures that environmental factors are in equal consideration in the decision making processes of federal agencies, and Advises the President on environmental policy and implementation
