The Production Process Paradigm of work Specify, design, create, examine Terminology: Transformation Process: Machines, equipment, policies, and procedures Control Process: Guide workers and monitor their accomplishments Chapter 7

Status of Production Process Problems with the work process itself: The process was not designed, it just grew The process is not documented Quality records are not kept Process responsibility is not always clear Problems in the operation of the process Documented process is not followed Operators of the process are not trained Process is adjusted for convenience, not effectiveness Chapter 7

Status continues Problems in the management of process: Management does not have a process focus Processes are not measured Processes are nor reviewed Processes are not improved Quality is not a paramount concern Chapter 7
