Types of Speeches Informative Persuasive Prepared Extemporaneous See if you know each of these great speakers throughout the presentation!

Informative Gives knowledge Information to the audience

Persuasive Convinces people to do something Believe in something

Prepared Speech is written Speech is learned before hand (often memorized) FFA competition… ask josh Tsujimura

Extemporaneous Speech with little or no preparation A FFA competition (individual)

Variables to consider when developing a speech Purpose of the speech Audience Occasion Content Composition Oral delivery

Purpose of the speech Why are you giving the speech? Do you need to persuade or should you inform?

Audience Who are you talking to? Make sure you know your audience- you should have appropriate language for the group! Example- “OMG!” Grandma is not going to know this.

Composition How is the speech written and organized?
