Patrick Henry’s Speech Effectiveness: 3.8 Paragraph Assignment In addition to the handout analyzing Patrick Henry’s speech, you will write a 3.8 paragraph that discusses the effectiveness of Henry’s speech. You paragraph should analyze the effectiveness of his speech by discussing his use of ethos, logos and pathos as a means for persuasion. To thoroughly cover the information your are asked to cover in this paragraph you will probably have to write more than 8 sentences. Use the following format as a guide.

Your 3.8 paragraph should follow this format: TS: Answer the question: What was Patrick Henry’s purpose? Use the terms ethos, logos, and pathos in your topic sentence. SS: Give a quote that demonstrates ethos. EX: Explain why that quote possesses ethos and explain why it is effective to his purpose. SS: Give a quote that demonstrates logos. EX: Explain why that quote possesses logos and explain why it is effective to his purpose. SS: Give a quote that demonstrates pathos. EX: Explain why that quote possesses pathos and explain why it is effective to his purpose. CS: Overall effectiveness of this speech. Explain how well Henry used these persuasive techniques and discuss how well these techniques show the effectiveness of the speech.
