We use the PRESENT PERFECT for a period of time that continues from the past until now We use the PAST SIMPLE for finished time in the past For example yesterday,last week, from 1985 to 1991 For example today, this week,since 1967 unfinished finished today yesterday past now past now Use past tense to ask WHEN...? REMEMBER ! Present Perfect Tense - action in the past ( we don’t know when ) with a result NOW ( present ) Past Simple Tense - we know exactly when an action happened in the past, it has nothing to do with NOW (present)
