Instructional Technology Resource Teacher Suffolk Public Schools SOL 1.2 Motion By, Jennifer Sagendorf Instructional Technology Resource Teacher Suffolk Public Schools

Motion is moving. How do things move? How do you move?

You can move like this . . . back and forth OR up and down

You can move up and down on a seesaw. What would happen if you and your friend are not the same size?

In this picture, the amount of force is not equal.

Motion can be circular. (like a circle)

Many things move in circles.

Some things need to be wound up. Then they can be put in motion.

Sometimes we can tell what motion will happen next. What do you think will happen next?

You can make objects move.

Pushing can move things if they are not too big.

Pulling can make motion, too. Pushing or pulling is called force.

You can use force to make things move . . . like a ball.

A vibration is a fast back and forth movement that can make a sound.

When something moves, you can measure its motion. Like: A dog A ball A car A person

All of these started at the line.

Which object had more motion?
