Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission Duties and Responsibilities of the Scorer and Assistant Scorer Instructions for FIVB Events Rules of the Game and Refereeing Commission

The Scoresheet is the only official document of match GENERAL ASPECTS The Scorers’ work is very important Example: VIDEO The Scoresheet is the only official document of match If using the e-score sheet the paper score sheet generated is the only official document for the match.

Before the Match Meet the referees at the Room for International Referees one hour before the match You are subject to alcohol testing at that time Make sure you have reserve devices (glasses, pen, ruler (if doing paper score sheet), etc.)

Before the Match If the team has 13-14 players in the O2-bis, what happens depends on the competition: Team manager is obliged to inform the Jury latest 1 hour before the match day about 12 players; Prepare the score sheet recording only 12 players on the score sheet; In case of paper score sheet use the names and numbers of team members on the scoresheet based on the information in Bulletin No. 1 – 2nd name and initial CARE: NO NICKNAMES, M MEANS MEDICAL DOCTOR, LIBERO ONLY IN THE SPECIAL LINES!

Where 14 players can play... If the team has 13-14 players and is allowed to FIELD all of them in the match, verify that there are TWO Liberos (2 are mandatory if more than 12 players are on the score sheet) Prepare the scoresheet recording all 14 players on the scoresheet; use the names and numbers of team members on the scoresheet based on the information in Bulletin No. 1 – 2nd name and initial CARE: NO NICKNAMES, M MEANS MEDICAL DOCTOR, LIBERO ONLY IN THE SPECIAL LINES!

Before the Match Coaches and Team Captains should sign the score sheet after the coin toss at the scorer’s table or at the corner of the court (depends on protocol) If the team has more than one Libero Player, the Coach must identify the Starting Libero at the time of the coin toss. This Libero must line up next to the team captain; the other at the end of the line.

Before the Match If the match is delayed past the scheduled match time, the correct time for the first serve should be entered and a Remark made explaining the delay. Text should be created by 1st referee or Refereeing Delegate Starting time: 10 minutes past official time to record also to headlines! Possible Reasons for Delay: Prolongation of the previous match Equipment problems; TV request

During the Match At the beginning of each set, check the line-up on the court by the numbers on the score sheet for that set at the same time the 2nd referee checks the line-ups by the numbers on the line-up sheet or on post tablet

During the Match Check the number of the serving player for each rally!!!! If the server is incorrect, press the buzzer immediately after the service and advise the 2nd referee of the fault

During the Match When a legal substitute enters the substitution zone, acknowledge the request for substitution by pressing the buzzer. When you complete the registration of the substitution, raise both hands to show the 2nd referee you are ready to resume the match. DO NOT WAIT to be asked if you are ready: if you are good, the raised two hands will be even before the exchange of players on the side line.

During the Match If there are substitutions from both sides during the same interruption, acknowledge each separately by pushing the buzzer and indicating the side you are acknowledging and administering first. VIDEO For multiple substitutions, complete the registration for each substitution, then raise both hands and continue with the next substitution.

During the Match If the request for substitution/s/ is/are illegal: push the buzzer again. Never push the buzzer AFTER the whistle for service

During the Match Notify the 2nd referee when: A team requests their second time out for the set. A team requests their 5th or 6th substitution for the set. THIS IS A DUTY.

During the Match GENERAL PRINCIPLE: Sanctions to record only based on instruction of 2nd referee!

Assistant Scorer Main duties Controls Libero replacements and exchanges on the FIVB R-6 Libero Control Sheet – if using e-score sheet no need to fill R-6! Maintains control of reserve score sheet If using the e-score sheet, the Assistant Scorer may press the buzzer acknowledging the substitution, and should relay information to the Scorer to allow the Scorer to maintain focus on the computer.

Assistant Scorer Control the manual scoreboard Check the electronic scoreboard for accuracy Keep time during Technical Time-outs. Press the buzzer when the 8th point is scored; and when the 16th point is scored in sets 1-4. Press the buzzer again at the end of each Technical Time-out

Assistant Scorer During Time-outs and Technical Time-outs, show the 2nd referee the location of the Libero Players on both sides Keep time during the set intervals Press the buzzer after 2 minutes 30 seconds have elapsed during the set interval.

Assistant Scorer Inform the Jury President or Technical Delegate of set durations on a small piece of paper: First Set: Exact starting time and duration of the set in minutes. Last Set: Duration of the set and exact ending time of the match. Other Sets: Duration of the set.
