Check the names against an event program for errors and omissions. Should you encounter any inform the Committee immediately so that corrections can be made.

Press Buzzer when player enters the Substitution Zone
Check for player number of requested substitution.
If legal, record on score sheet.
If not legal, press the buzzer again and raise one hand and wave off while stating: “The request is not legal.”
We no longer raise one hand to indicate legality.

The 2nd referee will say, “TLS #4 is replaced by #5.” The score is 14 to 18.
You mark a “5” below player number “4” and enter the score.
When marking the score, the first score is the team that requested the substitution, the second is the opposition.

Should there be a second substitution for the same player you will simply repeat the process
When finished you must circle the number of the substitute player to indicate that he/she may not re-enter the set.
Remember: When giving the hand signal to indicate a team has used five substitutions, do this prior to raising both hands to indicate the completion of the substitution
