2009 RIMS Chapter Recognition Program (CRP) Chapter Achievement Award Chapter Excellence Award Membership Growth Award Darlene Lebron RIMS Chapter Services Training Coordinator Chuck Magazine Chapter Recognition Program Taskforce Chair February 19, 2008

New Chapter Recognition Program (CRP) Changes to the program were based on feedback from Chapters. The new program is intended to better highlight the accomplishments of RIMS Chapters and streamline the application process. The CRP program is designed to inspire all chapters to achieve higher and greater goals and to share best practices with Chapter peers. Participation in this program is strictly voluntary. 

CRP Program Overview Chapters must meet the specified criteria in order to be considered for an award. Chapters do NOT compete against other chapters.  It is expected that there will be multiple award winners within each size category. Category# Chapter size (# of member organizations as of January 1, 2008) 20 or fewer Category 1 21-33 Category 2 34-45 Category 3 46 - 89 Category 4 90 or more Category 5

Eligibility Chapters must fully complete the online submission application. Chapters must provide RIMS with supporting documentation electronically. Proper documentation must be received by the deadline for the submission to be scored. Chapter officer roster information must be current on the RIMS website. Application: www.rims.org/awards

Submission Guidelines Supporting documentation must submitted to RIMS in one (1) .PDF document. Include a table of contents with supporting documentation. Avoid submitting excessive supporting documentation. Entries must reflect activities for the period of January 1, 2009 - December 31, 2009.

Recognition An electronic emblem and a certificate, is presented at the RIMS Annual Conference and Exhibition. An embroidered emblem is provided to be sewn onto the chapter's banner. Recognition is published on RIMS Website, RM Magazine and via RIMS correspondence.

Chapter Achievement Award Excellence in Education, Organization, Communication and Community. Chapters can only apply for one award category. During RIMS Annual Conference and Exhibition, the awards in each category will be presented as a group.

For example: If a chapter applies for the Organization Achievement Award in the Social Area category, the chapter can not apply for any other award or category for 2009. * “Special Chapter Events” includes any event sponsored solely by a single RIMS chapter. **“Regional Conference” must include sponsorship by more than one chapter.

Chapter Achievement Award Application should highlight best practices that can be shared and duplicated among other chapters. Chapter that apply for a Chapter Achievement Award can not apply for the Chapter Excellence Award. Application will be scored utilizing the following scoring system: Identify need Max. 20 points Establish goal Establish and manage process Identify, evaluate and quantify success Identify ability to recreate elsewhere Total 100 points

Chapter Excellence Award Excellence in Advancing the Risk Management Profession, Outstanding Chapter Programming and Outstanding Member Services. Individual awards in Outstanding Chapter Programming, Advancing the Risk Management Profession and Outstanding Member Services have been removed from the 2009 award program.

Chapter Excellence Award Award application is a compilation of the 2008 applications addressing three categories; Advancing the Risk Management Profession, Outstanding Chapter Programming and Outstanding Member Services. Chapters that apply for the Chapter Excellence Award can not apply for a Chapter Achievement Award.

Chapter Excellence Award Maximum scoring value for each category is 100 points. Submission must receive a minimum cumulative score of 70 in each category to be considered for the Chapter Excellence Award.   Categories: Advancing the Risk Management Profession Max. 100 Points Outstanding Chapter Programming Outstanding Member Services Max Total 300 Points

Membership Growth Award Presented to chapters that exhibit a growth in membership of 6+% from January 1-December 31, 2009. Membership Growth Award winners will be acknowledged at the Awards Luncheon at the RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition, on the RIMS Website, will receive an embroidered emblem to be sewn onto the chapter's banner and a "dated" star logo that can be posted on their own websites.    

Membership Growth Award Chapters with a 6.0-8.9% growth will be awarded the Membership Star Award. Chapters with 9+% growth will be awarded the Membership Superstar Award.   

Membership Growth Award Award requires NO input or application from chapters. The award is calculated strictly by total individual member counts (deputies + associates + retired + student + affiliate + educational) by RIMS Membership & Chapter Services Department.
