Family Morals, Values & Rules Nurturing Parenting Section 2.2 GOAL: To Increase parent’s skills in establishing discipled Home Environment

OBJECTIVES To establish a nurturing, disciplined environment at home. To increase parents awareness of behavioral strategies. To begin the process of establishing Family rules.

Creating a Family Environment of Disciple, Care and Love Creating a healthy environment for children to grow up in is called discipline. Discipline defines for children what is right and what is wrong, desirable to know, their morals, values, rules and expectations. Discipline doesn’t mean harsh critical and rigid rules, nor does it mean spankings

Creating a Family Environment of Disciple, Care and Love Discipline means guidelines to “act within” Webster defines discipline as “training that corrects, molds, or perfects the mental faculties or moral character” Family rules help families to develop discipline.

Discipline, Morals and Values When the discipline guidelines (family rules) are defined, children can grow up knowing that they are pleasing their parents and developing feelings of self worth, competence and autonomy. Children ages 5-11 really do want to make their parents happy.

Let’s Watch a Movie “Moral, Values and Family Rules”

Morals, Values and Family Rules Morals – Beliefs about right and wrong Values – Beliefs that have worth. Family Rules – Do’s and Don’ts ALL family members need to follow. We will talk about family rules after dinner.
