The beginning of Civilization Do Now: What does it mean to describe a society as hunter-gatherers?

Who were hunter-gatherers? People hunted animals and gathered food that grew naturally in the wild People on all continents often lived as nomads (meaning they moved with their source of food). People in warm climates with access to fish did not have to move

Hunter-Gatherers of Ridge High School What would you hunt around here? What would you gather around here?

10,000 years ago some societies started A REVOLUTION occurred- some societies stopped their hunting-gathering lifestyle. Why were they able to do this? 10,000 years ago some societies started growing their own food crops domesticating their own animals They engaged in AGRICULTURE!

Why did growing crops and growing animals REVOLUTIONIZE how people lived? A surplus was created – there was enough food for… people to accumulate stuff – wealth was created the population to increase people to settle in one place people to organize ways of governing their expanding population the division of labor -people could do something other than farm THE AGRICULTURAL REVOLUTION MARKED THE BEGINNING OF CIVILIZATION!
