THE POND

It’s the time for new life. Animals start their life cycle. A pond in SPRING It’s the time for new life. Plants begin to grow. Animals start their life cycle.

Plants and animals continue growing A pond in SUMMER Plants and animals continue growing The pond is very busy.

A pond in AUTUMN The weather is cold and it rains. Fallen leaves from the trees everywhere. Some animals prepare to hibernate.

A pond in WINTER Life in the pond is very quiet. Many animals save their energy for the warmer weather. Trees have no leaves.

We are mates and we are mating to create tadpoles. Life cycle of a frog We are mates and we are mating to create tadpoles.

FIRST the frog lays its eggs. tadpole I’m growing inside my egg. In 10 days, I’ll be almost ready to hatch out. FIRST the frog lays its eggs.

NEXT the tadpoles come out of the eggs. tadpole swimming Once I am out of my egg, I swim up to the surface of the pond where there’s a lot of food. NEXT the tadpoles come out of the eggs.

THEN each tadpole grows two back legs. When I’m six weeks, my back legs start to grow. THEN each tadpole grows two back legs.

AFTER this it grows two front legs. My front legs grow. Now I’m a froglet! front legs AFTER this it grows two front legs.

My tail gets shorter and when I am 13 weeks, my tail is almost gone. Its tail gets shorter.

When it becomes a frog it comes out from the water. After three months I breathe through my lungs. I’m ready to live on land. I’m a frog! When it becomes a frog it comes out from the water. and the cycle starts again

Croak, croak. See you next spring!!
