Body System Review

Circulatory ORGANS FUNCTION heart, veins, arteries, veins, capillaries, 3 types of blood cells FUNCTION transport nutrients, oxygen, and waste to and from the cells

Respiratory ORGANS FUNCTION lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, nasal cavity, pharynx, larynx, epiglottis, trachea, FUNCTION gets oxygen to the blood and removes carbon dioxide from it

Digestive ORGANS FUNCTION stomach, esophagus, mouth, salivary glands, large and small intestines, villi FUNCTION breaks down food small enough to get into your cells

Excretory ORGANS FUNCTION kidneys, urinary bladder, urethra, ureter, sweat glands, lungs FUNCTION removes waste from the body

Skeletal ORGANS FUNCTION bones, joints, ligaments, tendons protects organs, produces blood, stores minerals, movement and support

Muscular ORGANS FUNCTION skeletal muscle smooth muscle cardiac muscle FUNCTION skeletal: pull bones to cause movement smooth: organ muscle, and vascular walls cardiac: heart contractions

Nervous ORGANS FUNCTION brain, spinal cord, nerve cells, sense organs master control of the rest of the systems

Endocrine ORGANS FUNCTION ductless glands, hormones produces hormones that control the levels of other substances in the body

Reproductive ORGANS FUNCTION egg, sperm, ovaries, testes, uterus allows more humans to be born to continue the species

Integumentary ORGANS FUNCTION skin, hair, nails covers and protects the body and makes vitamin D
