To able to use this data to increase situational awareness we need to turn the data to actionable information. And this can be automated. One of the more effective way to do this is a visual tool. We also need to bring Fire and Weather data with their geographic context to the Control Room since this information could be very critical to maintain the reliability on the grid. Also bring all available important real time data from different systems to One Display. Weather feeds – Fire (perimeter & point), Earthquake, Wind, Temperature, Precipitation, Weather Advisories Environmental Factors – weather, base-maps PI Coresight – Integration of PI displays / graphs / tables

Peak Visualization Platform (PVP) PVP is the visualization solution we are building to help our Reliability Coordinators manage the Grid more effectively. Grid Reliability. Increasing the amount and quality of information available while at the same time reducing the amount of time it takes an Reliability Coordinator (Operation Engineer) to comprehend actionable information. Presenting the information with its geographic context can greatly speed that comprehension. The information shown on PVP comes from variety of core systems, Energy, Modeling, Outage, and several other systems in the control room. PVP pulls it together so that an operator can have situational awareness and understand where things is going and better support to make good decisions. We are able to show Area details, substations, IROL information, Path, lines and different type of generations, outages.

Grid Reliability Reducing the amount of time it takes an RC to comprehend actionable information. RC needs more information about fire that threads transmission lines\Sub Stations\Generators. To get the information, RC calls TOPs to try and determine location and direction of fire growth and what additional facilities are about to be impacted It takes up to 1 hour for this information to get back to the RC No current method for analytic tools to geographically map This is something we do not like to see but unfortunately happens a lot especially during summer seasons.

Real-time Fire Visualization Fire location, size and spatial geometry boundaries updating every 5 minutes from USGS along side of transmission assets

Real-time Disaster Report Weather information   PVP is also brings a lot of weather information to the map. Tornado\Earthquakes\Floods\Hurricanes and other warnings related to weather. Hurricanes, Lightning Strikes -> Weather.com All other data comes from -> USGS.COM Also we can all temperature information and show on the map. Especially important information during hot summers. On a cloudy day we can expect less solar energy output.

PMU LINE FLOW PMU data. We can create backup displays for EMS in case ICCP is down.

13,000 Displays!!! Labor intensive overhead to maintain all these individual displays Build the default dashboard once. Then configurable on-the-fly by the user.
