French- Indian War Began July 3, 1754 Between England and France for control over land in North America Lasted 7 years Cost England a lot of money

Proclamation of 1763 King George III of England No colonists may settle west of the Appalachian Mountains Indian Territory If colonists already lived there, they must move!

Sugar Act (Molasses Act) King George needed to pay for wars with French and Native Americans Make colonists pay! 1764 taxed sugar and wine Colonists angry! Boycott Colonists made their own

Stamp Act 1765 tax on anything written on paper a special stamp had to be placed on these papers to show they had been purchased Colonists boycotted British Goods King George repealed this tax 1766
