Presentation transcript:

Common Assessment Framework for Practice AIMS: To raise awareness of the underlying policies supporting the assessment framework To introduce the process of the Common Assessment Framework To review the importance of working in partnership with children and families 1. Delivering services to children in need in our communities is the corporate responsibility of local authorities, health organisations and community services. Improvements in outcomes for children in need can only be achieved by close collaboration between professionals and agencies working with children and families. A critical task is to ascertain with the family whether a child is in need and how that child and family might best be helped. The effectiveness with which a child’s needs are assessed is key to the effectiveness of subsequent actions and services and ‘ultimately’ to the outcomes for the child.

The Munro Review of Child Protection (2010) The third and final report sets out recommendations that should be if they are taken together, help reform the child protection system from being over- bureaucratised and concerned with compliance to one that keeps a focus on children, checking whether they are being effectively helped, and adapting when problems are identified. Munro Review

Safeguarding and Child Protection for Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors: A Practical Guide The book covers the full spectrum of safeguarding children work; from prevention and early help through to statutory intervention and serious case review. It also offers an insight into the inter-agency aspects of safeguarding and child protection and the roles of other key players such as children's social care, the police and education services.
