HAJJ& UMRAH Ruling on Hajj & Umrah. Hajj is obligatory on every capable Muslim. Allah says in the Qur’an. (ولله على الناس حج البيت من استطاع إليه سبيلا) “Hajj to the House of Allah is a duty that Mankind owes to Allah for those who can afford the journey”. www.dawahmemo.com

The Messenger of Allah  said: ((بني الإسلام علي خمس , شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله وأن محمدا رسول الله, وإقام الصلاة, وإيتاء الزكاة, وحج البيت (من استطاع إليه سبيلا), وصوم رمضان)) Islam is built on five pillars : a) to testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger  of Allah. b) Establishing of Salah c) Paying the Zakah. d) Performance of hajj (who is able ) e) Fasting the Month of Ramadan.

Hajj is a duty to be performed once in life time Hajj is a duty to be performed once in life time. The Messenger  said: (الحج مرة , فمن زاد فهو تطوعٌ) رواه أبوداود وأحمد والحاكم. Hajj is to be performed once in lifetime and whoever performed more than one time is a supererogatory . ِAllah Also says : ((وأتموا الحج والعمرة لله )). “And complete Hajj & Umrah for Allah”

WISDOM BEHIND HAJJ & UMRAH WISDOM BEHIND HAJJ & UMRAH. it is to purify the soul from sins, in order to qualify for Allah’s Mercy in the Hereafter, the Messenger  said: (من حج فلم يرفث ولم يفسق , رجع كيوم ولدته أمه) “He who performs Hajj for Allah and does not behave in an obscene manner or acts unlawfully, will return sinless as in the day he was born”

CONDITIONS FOR HAJJ & UMRAH: the following are the conditions for Hajj & Umrah 1- Islam. 2- Soundness of mind 3- Puberty. 4- capability; this includes provision and cost of the journey as Allah the most High says. ( من استطاع إليه سبيلا) “Those who can afford the Journey” 3:97 therefore Hajj &Umrah is not obligatory on those who do not posses enough money to feed his children during his absence and to make the journey to Makkah. It is also not obligatory if the journey to Makkah exposes the hajji's life to risk.

VIRTUES OF HAJJ & UMRAH. Allah the exalted said: (ولله على الناس حج البيت من استطاع إليه سبيلا) “ Hajj to the house of Allah Is a duty that Mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the journey ; but if anyone denies , Allah stands not in need of any of his creatures “ 3:97. hajj and Umrah are among the good deeds that Islam urges muslims to perform. The Messenger  said: (أفضل الأعمال : إيمان بالله وحده , ثم الجهاد, ثم حجة مبرورة) “the best deeds are ;1- to believe in Allah alone. 2- to launch Jihad (in Allah’s cause ) 3- Accepted Hajj” by Ahmad.

He also said: (الحج المبرور ليس له جزاء إلا الجنة) “the reward of accepted Hajj is no less than Jannah (paradise)” (العمرة إلي العمرة كفارة لما بينهما, والحج المبرور ليس له جزاء إلا الجنة) “ The time between Umrah and the other is expiation and the accepted Hajj has no reward except paradise”

Conditions for the Acceptance of Any Worship One devotes it to Allah alone, with a desire for the Hereafter. It cannot be done with the intention of being seen among people or for worldly gain, (Ikhlaas). One follows the Prophet's example, in words and deeds. This cannot be accomplished except by gaining knowledge of the Sunnah, (Al- Mutaba’a).
