“Wall of Respect” Movement Began in in the 1960s African-American Artists Walls within communities Symbols of respect for the artists’ neighborhoods

Creating Our Wall of Respect You get one notecard. It is your “brick.” Put your full name and period number on the back of the card (the side with lines). Think: What do I respect? Who do I respect? Design and decorate your brick with words, pictures, art…anything that represents what you respect most. It must be colorful. We will use them to create a wall.
