4 Game 1 a) In a circle, holding a small stuffed animal have each member introduce themselves, where they are from and what they teach (very short introduction) - only the person holding the stuffed animal talks - when finished stress how wonderful it is that everyone is different and isn’t that interesting b) now have each individual state their favorite color, again stress how great it is that everyone is different

5 Game 2 - Have each member draw a tree without looking at what person next to them has drawn - Give a number from handouts (number cards), then slowly discuss the characteristics of each tree stating that all these traits are positive - Discussion on if students agree or disagree * this exercise stresses the point that we accept each other and ourselves for what we are ……….self-esteem, self- respect

6 Game 3 - Describing the walk, close your eyes and picture the following items and then describe them with one word on a piece of paper - Road -your live from the day you were born until now - Cup - your soul (if cup is glass and clear- good, if glass is chipped, trouble - Key - friendship (if key is big and old, then friends are important - Water - love. Relationships if you get wet then it is important part of life - Wall - death (if you stop and stare then you are afraid, if not then you have no fear of death (discussion helps students talk about themselves express feelings, and for students to learn about each other)

8 Game 4 - put pictures on floor (postcards) and have students pick up the ones they like and describe why they picked them. (we all like different things)

9 Game 5 -Put pictures (advertisements) on floor and have students pick then describe why they picked them -Was it because of the product, the colors, and/or the message?? -Split students into groups of 4 and have them present a sketch, song, poem about the advertisements using such things as topics like respect, friendship, racism, environment etc, - This exercise helps in team work, creativity, sharing, respect…

10 Game 6 - In a circle, hold hands and send a message to the next person without talking - This shows if people really listen and notice what someone is saying

11 Conclusion - The above games can be changed depending on what age group you have and interests -What is needed is patience, sense of humor and time - These games work self-esteem, self respect, creativity, patience skills
