John 3:16

The Devil’s Design To turn truth into error (Gen. 3:1-5) He is a liar (Jn. 8:44) and a deceiver (Rev. 12:9) As a result, our world is full of many false “isms” We must return to the truth!

For God… This truth denies ATHEISM and HUMANISM There is evidence for God (Psa. 19:1; Rom. 1:20-21; Acts 14:17)

So Loved the World… This truth denies DEISM God is not inactive in his world; he is active in, and concerned for, all of his creation; he has emotion for his creation (Rom. 5:8; Eph. 2:4; 2 Thess. 2:16; Tit. 3:4; 1 Jn. 4:10-11)

That He Gave… This truth denies PREMILLENNIALISM The cross and the church are not after- thoughts; God purposely gave his Son on the cross for our sins and to establish the church (Acts 2:23; 3:18; 4:28; Eph. 1:4; 1 Pet. 1:20)

His Only Begotten Son… This truth denies MODERNISM Jesus is not just a man (Judaism, Arianism, Muslim, Mormonism, etc.); he is the divine Son of God (Jn. 1:1, 14-18; 3:18; 1 Jn. 4:9)

That Whosoever… This truth denies CALVINISM Salvation is not just for the predestined; it is for all mankind (Jn. 3:15; 4:14; 11:26; 12:46; Rom. 10:11, 13; Acts 2:21; 1 Tim. 2:4; Tit. 2:14; 2 Pet. 3:9; 1 Jn. 4:15; 5:1; Rev. 22:17)

Believeth… This truth denies UNIVERSALISM All mankind will not be saved; only those who believe and obey Jesus will be saved (Mt. 16:16; Jn. 3:36; 5:24; Acts 10:43; Rom. 10:9-14) The “believeth not” ones will be lost (Jn. 3:18; 1 Jn. 5:10)

On Him… This truth denies DENOMINATIONALISM The saved are not those who belong to just any church, synagogue, mosque, temple, etc; the saved are those who follow Jesus’ words in the NT (Mt. 7:21- 22; 16:18; 17:5; Lk. 6:46; Heb. 1:1-2)

Should Not Perish… This truth denies FATALISM You do not have to perish or be lost; you can be saved from hell; you have free-will; you have the power to choose your destiny (Jn. 10:28; 1 Cor. 1:18; 2 Cor. 2:15; 4:3-4; 2 Thess. 1:9-10; 2 Pet. 3:9)

But Have Eternal Life This truth denies MATERIALISM and NATURALISM Life is not made up of just physical things; we have a soul that lives on after death (Mt. 16:24; Lk. 12:15; 18:30; Jn. 6:27; Gal. 6:8)

TRUTH or LIE? For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish, but have eternal life (Jn. 3:16)
