Exploring India’s Population Growth It’s bigger than you think!

India’s Location and Size * India is located in South Asia * India is one-third the size of the United States * India’s current population is 1, 155,347,678

Compared to rest of the world India is experiencing the world’s fastest population growth

Consequences of Population Growth Urban areas in Indian cities are more congested leading to: * housing shortages * un-sanitary living conditions * lack of enough food to feed the population

So What Does This All Mean? * Overcrowding in cities * Un-sanitary living conditions

* Not enough food to feed population

Benefits of Population of Growth Outsourcing More people of working age available to work which leads to overseas outsourcing. Outsourcing is described as contracting a business out to an overseas company. America outsources a large amount of jobs to India such as: *telemarketing *I.T. (Information Technology)

Effects of Outsourcing Positive benefits: * Countries such as the United States pay cheaper labor for Indian workers. * Growing Indian middle-class Negative benefits * People in the United States loose their jobs. * Indian urban areas are becoming even more congested and overpopulated.
