A STRATEGIC PLAN

STRATEGIC PLANS ARE NOT INTENDED TO BE PERMANENT GOALS ARE INTENDED TO EVOLVE OVER TIME AS NEEDS ARISE DETERMINE AREAS OF FOCUS SET A PATH OF ACCOMPLISHMENT

Must support our core purpose… To enhance the success of women in the construction industry. To be a successful plan, the plan must be S-M-A-R-T S specific M measurable A achievable R realistic T time-bound

FORMER STRATEGIC PLAN THE BIG AUDACIOUS GOAL NAWIC will be THE global resource for professional development in the construction industry GOAL A NAWIC will be the resource for leadership and professional development GOAL B NAWIC will be a leader in positioning construction as a desirable career field GOAL C NAWIC will be recognized by the construction industry as a key partner

Our NAWIC President wanted us to get SMART! So over the course of 2 full day, very focused and intense meetings at Pre-Con and Mid Year Board, the NAWIC Board was educated on creating a Strategic Plan and worked to create a Smarter plan.

GOAL A NAWIC will increase membership to 4,700 (increase of 20% from September 30, 2012) Target Date: End of FY Design and produce a user-friendly marketing kit for chapter use, for roll out by AMEC 2013 in Bellevue, WA 2.Review and reintroduce NAWICs Mentoring Program for roll out by AMEC Create a training resource Who to Attract and How for roll out at Mid-Year 2014 UPDATED STRATEGIC PLAN

GOAL B NAWIC will promote the construction industry as a desirable career choice through targeted outreach efforts Target Date: AMEC Survey members about their current participation in construction related career activities and programs (Survey created and will be coming out shortly after Forum season) 2.Analyze data, present results to Board and disseminate to the chapters 3.Board determines initial direction for targeting outreach efforts based on survey results UPDATED STRATEGIC PLAN

GOAL C NAWIC will develop and implement a Professional Development Program with multiple tracks Target Date: AMEC Complete member needs assessment 2.Complete company needs assessment 3.Develop the 1 st track by AMEC Launch the 1 st track using current technology 5.Evaluate the 1 st track 6.Revise as needed and launch next track UPDATED STRATEGIC PLAN

So what is the impact of the National Strategic Plan on Regions and Chapters? The NAWIC Board has a responsibility to the entire association to provide overall guidance and direction to Regions and chapters. While this Strategic Plan helps set the agenda for what National itself needs to accomplish, its also a guide to help all members understand where the association is headed. Every region and chapter still needs to do their own planning, just like any successful company or construction project. But in the end, ALL planning, whether national, regional or chapter, must always point to and support NAWICs core purpose… To enhance the success of women in the construction industry!
