Presentation transcript:

The neutral safety system is found in automatic transmission systems for preventing the engine to start when the gear is set to another gear.

In the automatic transmission, the neutral safety switch is placed inside it and integrated into the linkage to help the transmission for changing the gears.

The manual transmission uses a different component which works similarly to the neutral safety switch in the clutch of the car.

If the neutral safety switch of your car is failed, then it will cause irreversible damage to your engine and transmission.

Below defined symptoms helps you to identify the damaged or faulty neutral safety switch of your car.

Sometime your car engine will crank in a park but not in neutral which is a common symptom of a failed neutral safety switch.

In this cases, the switch will in good shape but have electrical issues or loose connection in the transmission and prevent the switch from receiving power.

When the neutral safety switch of your car is damaged, then the engine does not crank even you turn the key in the ignition.

It does not always mean that the problem is connected to the neutral safety because the same problems can occur from a failed battery or starter motor.

When your car cranks the engine in any gear, then make sure that your car has a failed neutral safety switch.

Sometime it will produce the crank even if the gear is set to Drive or Reverse or an engine is running. As a result, it can lead to serious accidents while driving.

If the neutral safety switch of your car has electrical problems, then the engine will not crank in a park or neutral condition.

The starter relay relies on the switch for receiving the power. When it unable to receive the power, then the starter motor unable to crank the engine.

So, it's your responsibility is to recognize all the symptoms of a damaged or failed neutral safety switch.

In this way, you can easily know that when you bring your car to the mechanic to replace the neutral safety switch with a new one.
