CRITICAL THINKING & PROBLEM SOLVING

In a recent study, CRITICAL THINKING was identified as one of the most important skills needed for job success, and one that is lacking in the new workforce

It was also rated as the #1 SKILL of increasing importance over the next five years

“CRITICAL THINKING is reasonable reflective thinking focused on deciding what to believe of do” “CRITICAL THINKING is best understood as the ability of thinkers to take control of their own thinking” “CRITICAL THINKING is looking at the issue from lots of different viewpoints before you make a decision

Good Critical Thinkers Focus on the most relevant information Ask questions relevant to what they are exploring Separate facts from opinions and assumptions Make sound decisions Set priorities Apply what they learn to new situations

CRITICAL THINKING ACTIVITIES 3 FACTS AND A FIB Write 3 Facts about yourself and a fib on a sticky note. Trade this sticky note with someone in your group. Members of the group take turns to ask questions about what is on the sticky note about one person. They decide which is the fib. Keep doing this about each member of the group.

TALKING CHIPS 1.Each person in the group gets coloured chip. 2.One player at each table scribes ideas on paper. 3.One person contributes an idea that answers the question, while others quietly listen. 4.Afterwards, the player places their chip in the centre of the table. 5.They now listen without talking, while others contribute their views

Talking Chips Did they need to shoot Harambe?
