Presentation transcript:

The starter motor is generally used in your car for cranking up the engine and to make your car run by receiving the electric current sent by the battery.

Generally the cars only have the hydraulic starter motors in them, but the modern cars have the electric starter motors.

If you want to increase the durability and longevity of the starter motor, you need to maintain the electrical system of your car.

For proper functioning, the starter motor fully depends on the integrity of other components within the electrical system.

Here are the points help you to keep your car starter motor as durable as possible.

Tight the mounting bolts

The starter motor of your car are generally placed or represented with the mounting bolts.

When the mounting bolts become too loose, then the drive of the starter and the flywheel won't be able to engage each other.

If the mounting bolts of the starter motor are loose, then it will produce a grinding sound whenever you are trying to start the engine.

If you want to prevent the mounting bolt issues of your starter motor, then check it periodically and make sure to tighten the mounting bolts.

Clean the terminals

Once you have used the battery for a longer time, the hydrogen gas which is produced by the battery acids will eventually find their way out of the battery.

After a couple of years, these gases form the corrosive materials and typically see on the batteries and its terminals.

When the terminals covered with corrosive materials, then the electric current is weakened sended from the battery to the starter.

So, cleaning the battery terminals will not only be a good option for the battery but also for the motor as well.

Clean the connectors

The battery and the starter motor of your car are connected together through a series of special connector wires.

If you find any types of corrosions, dirt or grime on the connectors, it will limit the strength of the electric current sent to the starter relay.

It will create an impossible circumstance for the starter motor to generate enough power to fully crank the engine.

So, you will need to keep the connector clean. Otherwise, it will ruin the integrity of the motor and create excessively worn.

Clean the solenoid

The solenoid is placed at the top of the motor. It defined to be a starter relay of the motor and appear to be a small cylindrical object.

Thus, the positive battery cables is attached to the solenoid from the battery and equivalent to the positive battery terminal.

Like the other parts of the starter motor, the solenoid also needs to be cleaned and maintained on a regular basis.

So, for maintaining the starter motor, it's best to sweep away all the dirt, corrosion and debris from the solenoid.

Conclusion

Thus, the starter motor of your car are normally processed when you start up it by turning the key in the ignition.

If you want to increase the durability of your car's starter motors subsequently, go through the above- defined techniques.
