I like…

To say that you like a particular activity, use me gusta plus the verb phrase: Me gusta leer libros. I like to read books. Me gusta patinar. I like to skate. To say that you really like something, use me gusta mucho Me gusta mucho escuchar música. I really like to listen to music.

To say that you like one activity more than another, use me gusta más Me gusta escribir cuentos pero me gusta más dibujar. I like to write stories, but I like drawing more.

To say that you dont like an activity, use no me gusta No me gusta jugar videojuegos. I dont like to play videogames. To say that you really dont like something, use no me gusta nada No me gusta nada correr. I dont like running at all.

When talking about liking a noun or nouns, use gusta with singular nouns and gustan with plural nouns. Me gusta tu carpeta rosada. I like your pink folder. No me gustan los pupitres en la clase de Sra. Johnson. I dont like the desks in Mrs. Js class.

When asking if someone likes an activity or thing, use ¿Te gusta…? plus the verb phrase or noun: ¿Te gusta esquiar? Do you like to ski? ¿Te gusta el libro en la clase de inglés? Do you like the book in English class? The same rule for gusta/gustan + noun/s applies to questions: ¿Te gusta el libro? Do you like the book? ¿Te gustan los libros? Do you like the books?

To ask in general what someone like to do, ask: ¿Qué te gusta hacer? What do you like to do? To ask what someone likes more, ask: ¿Qué te gusta más…? ¿Qué te gusta más, trabajar o practicar deportes? What do you like more, working or practicing sports?
