Which one is the semi-colon? : ; & /

Before we talk about semi-colons… To make a complete sentence you need… A subject A verb (shows action or existence) A complete thought

Spot the complete sentences! I ran home. When I got home. Why she left after school. I was so tired. Because he was lost. We never watch scary movies.

I hate my aunt’s house; I’m never going there again! Some examples… I hate my aunt’s house; I’m never going there again!

So we can gather… Semi-colons connect closely related ideas. Match the Following: Chris stayed up really late. Michael studied really hard. He is exhausted! He did well on his test.

What’s the difference? I am going home, and I intend to stay there. It rained heavily during the afternoon, but we managed to have our picnic anyway. They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark, so they decided to camp for the night. I am going home; I intend to stay there. It rained heavily during the afternoon; we managed to have our picnic anyway. They couldn't make it to the summit and back before dark; they decided to camp for the night.

Semi-colons… Are used to combine two complete, closely related sentences. Make a stronger connection than a comma and conjunction. Make cute winking faces ;)
