Focus When was Washington elected President? 1789 Did Washington want to be President? Not at first, he felt that he was too old and his plantation needed attention Why did people want him to be President? Because of his integrity and good leadership

Fact or FICTION? 1. George Washington Wore wooden teeth FICTION! George Washington wore false teeth, but they were not wooden. In one set of teeth, his dentist, Dr. John Greenwood, used a cow’s tooth, one of Washington’s teeth, hippopotamus ivory, metal and springs. 2. G.W was the first president to live in the White House FICTION- the White House was not completed until after his death. 3. G.W Did not have any children FACT- George Washington had no children of his own, although he did help raise two of Martha’s children from her first marriage and two of her grandchildren at Mount Vernon 4.
