BCPS Budget Highlights The budget was passed on Monday, May 8th $100 increase per student, totaling $7,281. $800,000 for Adults with Disabilities $200,000 for BCPS Suicide Prevention PECO: $50 Million for public schools $50 Million for charter schools This is a decrease of $25 million each. Budget

Debt Service Projected HB 7069: Sharing Millage Sharing millage will account for 10% of Broward’s available millage once debt service is accounted for. BCPS currently has $2 Billion in critical maintenance needs. HB 7069: Lawsuit On July 5, 2017, the School Board of Broward County (SBBC) authorized the General Counsel and Superintendent to retain outside counsel in collaboration with other school districts for the purpose of filing a legal challenge to House Bill 7069. SBBC authorized this legal challenge in regards to the constitutionality of the following items amended by HB 7069: Single Subject Requirement Standard Charter Contracts Schools of Hope Charter Schools as Local Education Agencies (LEA) Sharing Discretionary Local Millage with Charter Schools Title I Following Broward’s actions, 13 other school boards across the state have joined the litigation efforts. The School Board continues to advocate for a legislative “fix” and Broward County Public Schools will continue to advocate for legislation that benefits our students and teachers. HB 7069
