The sequences were selected based on a sequence similarity search using the BLASTn search facility, and additional reference strains were included. The origin of the virus sequences (sw, swine; hu, human; wb, wild boar), strain designation, country of detection, and the GenBank accession numbers are indicated. Grouping of the sequences into genotypes is shown on the right. The tree was constructed with a 147-nucleotide fragment of the HEV ORF2. The phylogenetic analysis was conducted with MEGA5 using the ML method [58] and bootstrap values of ≥50% are shown on the branches.
