Mrs. Rice’s Weekly News May 2-6, 2016 We Are Studying….. A.R. Update Reading: Genre focus: Poetry. We will be continue to practicing rereading for details and summarizing. In language arts we will focus on adjectives and adverbs. Writing: We wrote FANTASTIC opinion pieces about our favorite read aloud book from the year. Many students chose The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane as their favorite book from the year. Math: Students will have a test this week on Geometry and Fractions, and we will begin reviewing and getting ready for third grade! Spelling: words with r controlled vowel syllables Social Studies: Students are researching a country in groups and presenting their research to the class. Star Citizen This week’s star citizen is: Aderyon Blackburn Calendar Updates May 16: School wide trip to North Middleton to see “The Little Mermaid” May 17th: School is in session! AR Beach Party. May 19th: Field Day (more info to come about this soon) May 24tH: Last day for students. Class Photos: If you did not purchase a class photo and would like one the office has a few extra for sale. The cost is $10. Please let me know if you would like. Lost and Found: Mrs. Earlywine in the family resource center has received a lot of items in lost and found. If your child is missing an item, please send a description of the item, along with your child’s name to danita.earlywine@bourbon.kyschools.us, or call her at 987-2195.
