Surrealism Surrealism is a cultural movement and artistic style that was founded in 1924 by André Breton. Surrealism style uses visual imagery from the subconscious mind to create art. http://study.com/academy/lesson/what-is-surrealism-definition-art-characteristics.html

the persistence of memory by Salvador Dali Decay and death are symbolized by a dead tree and a strange sea monster decomposing The limp watch indicates that someone has the power to twist time as he or she sees fit. Bottom Line: in time, everything will die and decay except time itself The Persistence of Memory almost stands alone as a symbol of the movement. The melted clocks represent the strange warping of time which occurs when we enter the dream state. The stretched image of a man's face which is at the center of the painting is believed to be that of Dali himself, and the landscape which stretches out behind the scene may perhaps represent his birthplace, Catalonia.

the false mirror Rene Magritte This saying is “the eyes are a door to the mind”. Fundamentally, due to the fact that there is a mainly clear blue sunny sky being portrayed in the eye it represents a clear mind or a clear future. -Conversely, on the flip side of things this eye may be the eye of a child who has immense opportunities in his or her future. Ultimately, in this case, “The Sky is the Limit,” which means that this child has endless life opportunities to make a world of difference.

time transfixed by rene magritte Things to ask your self why the train is sticking out of the wall? What the steam represent? Why the train is hanging in the middle of the air not falling off? Train is a daily object that everyone is familiar with You can see that the train is in motion but it has not falling off even though it is not moving. It appears that the train is frozen in time.
