Goal: To understand what genre means and to identify film conventions

Genre Genre is the type of film. It means it will have certain common characteristics. We expect to see certain things in all films of the same genre. If a film has a saloon, gunfight and sheriff what type or genre would it be?

Genre Genre is the type of film. It means it will have certain common characteristics. We call these CONVENTIONS. For example all war films will have soldiers, guns, explosions, death in them. Horror films will have blood, monsters, a hero, dark tones, scary music.
