Our Solar System By Aaliyah Hall Our Solar System has eight planets, five dwarf planets, a Sun, and many stars. All the planets orbit around the Sun. Near 4.6 billion years ago our Solar System was made. Our Solar System order is Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune.

The Sun The Sun is a huge ball of fire called a star. In about 5 billion years the Sun will explode. The Sun was alive since about 4.5 billion years ago.

Mercury Mercury is 1,516 miles long in size. Mercury was made 4.503 years ago. Mercury is also the closest planet to the sun it is 35,983,095 miles away from it. It takes 88 days to make a full orbit around the Sun and 59 days to turn on its axis. Mercury has 0.38 surface gravity.

Venus Venus is a bit smaller that our planet earth. Venus also has a core made of metals. It can be seen without a telescope during morning and afternoon. It is made 96.5% of carbon dioxide and 3.5% nitrogen plus. Venus has 0.9 gravity from Earth.

Earth Earth is the only planet known to have life on it. It is 92,955,820 miles away from the sun. Earth takes 365 days and 6 hours to make a full orbit around the sun. Earth’s diameter is 7,926 miles. It’s known to have only one moon.

Mars Mars is quite small in fact it would take about 6 Mars to make Earth. Mars has a volcano on it that is called Olympus Mons and it is bigger that Mount Everest. It has ice caps on its north and south sides. During its winter 20% of air freezes. In kilograms it is 33.9 million miles away when its at closest possible.

The Asteroid Belt The Asteroid Belt is between Mars and Jupiter. It is full of rocks and ice. The Asteroid Belt, just like the planets orbits around the Sun. Scientist believe that the Asteroid Belt was going to be a planet but got pulled apart before it was formed. It was first noticed when it was 1801.

Jupiter Jupiter is the fifth closest to the Sun. It is the largest planet in our solar system. It also has more than 63 moons. Jupiter has 11.2 of the radius of the earth. Jupiter also has 67 satellites. It takes Jupiter 11.86 years to make a full orbit around the Sun.

Saturn Saturn was found in 1610 by Galileo Galilei. It is the sixth closest plant to the Sun. It would take 95 Earths to make the size of Saturn. Saturn also has more than 30 rings around the outside. Its temperature is -178 degrees.

Uranus Uranus was discovered years ago in 1781. It takes Uranus 84 years to make a full orbit around the Sun. Uranus is also the coldest planet in the solar system. Uranus spins on its axis 17 hours and 14 minutes. It is 14 time bigger that our planet Earth.

Neptune Neptune takes 164.8 years to make a full orbit around the sun. Neptune also was predicted before it was seen. Triton will be ripped apart from Neptune’s gravitational pull. It has the most dangerous weather of known planets. Its winds are 10 times the wind speed of a hurricane.

Pluto Pluto is known to have five moons. Pluto was claimed to be a dwarf planet in 2006. Pluto is claimed to have three fourths of its planet covered with water. It is also the largest dwarf planet in our solar system. Pluto is named after the Greek god of the underworld.

Comet Comets, just like planets orbit the sun. Sometimes people call comets cosmic snowballs. They are mostly made of Carbon dioxide, dust, ice, ammonia, and methane. One comet was named Halley’s comet. Some comets take up to 79 years to orbit the Sun.

Galaxy Galaxies are made from many clusters of stars. They are also made of gasses and dust. There are thousands of galaxies in space some of them we can’t see.

Black Hole There are millions of black holes in our solar system. Its impossible to find out how large a black hole is. Once black holes are formed, they can’t disappear.

THANKS FOR WATCHING!!! <3
