EDUCATION iCivics 2015-2016

Objectives To introduce the iCivics Site To make connections between the Civics EOC and the iCivics resources To explain the benefits of Game Based Learning and a blended learning curriculum To model lessons and games To provide a guide to use ALL the different types of learning tools available

DO YOU RECOGNIZE ME? THE DIGITAL NATIVE The Digital Native Video “Students are more and more visually literate. They live in a world filled with technology and visual input.” - Patricia Nuñez, Palm Springs Middle School The term “Digital Natives” was first introduced by Marc Prensky in his book on 21st century learning. He defines a digital native as a person who has grown up in the digital world using technology as a way to communicate, record, educate, and understand society. Today's tweens and teens are digital natives as they have had access to computers, cell phones, email, and other forms of technology since birth. Digital Natives speak the language of technology and are as comfortable with technology as past generations have been with pen and paper.
