You lived with your whole family in one house called a longhouse. The babies got their names after the midwinter festival. The mother is always the leader of the family.

Food (Hunting And Gathering) The Iroquois ate fish after they caught them. The Iroquois also ate vegetables , fruits and nuts. You would also eat corn , beans and squash. Hunters hunted deer , bear , beaver , rabbit , squirrels , wild turkey and passenger pigeon

Clothing The men of the Iroquois wore breech clothes with leggings. The women of the Iroquois wore wraparound skirts with short leggings. The men didn`t often were t-shirts. The clothing you would were was hand made . You would were deer skin that the women tanned.

Weapons/Tools The Iroquois used the sun as a resource for the time. The Iroquois used bows and arrows for hunting animals. The Iroquois used the moon to see what month it was. The Iroquois used a wampum belt for recording information and great events. Beads cut from shells are called wampum.

Houses The Iroquois lived in villages of longhouses. The longhouses were 100 feet long. Longhouses can fit up to 60 people inside. If you were an Indian you would live in a village that was protected by a blockade. The houses that were inside the blockade were longhouses that were made up of logs and cross poles and were covered with elm bark
