Strategy We believe that, in addition to good teaching, students need to engage in research to become good practitioners Our research is practice oriented, which enables us to support companies and institutions create solutions for a wide range of (complex) problems and challenges Society needs professionals that are employable throughout their professional career. Our educational concept can be summarized as ‘Continuing Professional Education’ also known as Lifelong Learning

Cooperation Intensified cooperation HU, UU and UAF xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 9/15/2018 Cooperation Intensified cooperation HU, UU and UAF Preparatory year for refugees In 2016, HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht and Utrecht University decided to work together to train refugee students and to prepare refugees for the labour market. HU en UU are also putting effort into securing positions of employment for qualified refugees at the institutions. The two institutions each signed a cooperation agreement with the University Assistance Fund (UAF) Foundation for Refugee Students HU – in cooperation with UAF, Utrecht Municipailty, AFAS foundation and SURF- organizes a preparatory year for refugee students to help them improve their study skills, learn Dutch and show them the way when it comes to choosing the right programme of study. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Anyone who has an NT2 certificate (basic Dutch language) can apply for a study. A refugee who has a residence permit can join the HU by: -        evaluate their foreign qualifications for EU higher education via Nuffic -        apply for a 21+ test -        minor refugees can join secundary education -        via intermediate vocational training (MBO) xxxxxxxxxxxxx
