What about a Mission or Vision Statement?

Vision Statements answer the following: Where is the business going… Our business will END after 2 days… therefore we will NOT be writing Vision Statements…

Mission Statement answers the following: What does your business do? Why does the business exist? How are you going to do it?

Video clip… 5 Famous company Mission Statements… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tjWtVpy5nRE Which was your favorite??

7 Reasons your company needs a clearly written mission statement

1. IT DETERMINES THE COMPANY’S DIRECTION To remind their teams why their company exists Serves as a “North Star” that keeps everyone clear on the direction of the organization.

2. IT FOCUSES THE COMPANY’S FUTURE NOT a “vision” Rather the mission tells us what we’re doing today that will then take us where we want to go in the future.

3. IT PROVIDES A TEMPLATE FOR DECISION-MAKING Delegates both responsibility and authority.

4. IT FORMS THE BASIS FOR ALIGNMENT Helps new employees know what the company does and where the company is going. Your team will all be on the same page when it comes to what you do and why you do it.

5. IT WELCOMES HELPFUL CHANGE People are resistant to change Clear Mission helps them to see the value of change and how it helps the organization accomplish the mission. This creates a culture that welcomes change.

6. IT SHAPES STRATEGY Create the most effective strategies possible to accomplish the mission

7. IT FACILITATES EVALUATION AND IMPROVEMENT “What you measure will be your mission.” If you have a clear, written statement of mission you will know exactly what to measure and how to measure it.
