Short Reports: Progress Feasibility Causal Analysis Assessment (a.k.a. as evaluation or investigation) Recommendation Proposal

Short Reports: The most frequent type of writing done by: Technologists Engineers Technicians Business writers Research scientists Purpose: to provide information and analysis so that readers can be informed and make good decisions Report Formats: Correspondence (letter, e-mail, or memo of 1 – 3 pages) Semi-formal (of 4 – 10 pages)

Progress Report (Lannon and Klepp, pp. 433-444) Kinds of Reports: Progress Report (Lannon and Klepp, pp. 433-444) Shows the status of a project. Is it in schedule? Does it need corrections? What work is next? Purpose may be to: Give a summary of work completed Describe work in progress Forecast when work will be completed
