Population Why are we studying it? Why do some people feel it is a problem?

20th century began with a population of under 2 billion 1999 world population reached 6 billion 7 billion by 2020

China has the highest population at 1.2 B India is second at 1 B Canada has a population of about 33 million

Demography The statistical study of human populations A Census gives countries important information about population “total process of collecting, compiling, and publishing demographic, economic, and social data pertaining to a particular time, to all persons in a particular country” Developed countries have more accurate statistics

Rule of Seventy If Canada has a natural population increase of 0.6 %, using the Rule of Seventy, what is Canada’s “Doubling Time”?
