What can a student expect when he or she calls? Student must tell the receptionist that he or she is a Rowan SOM student Someone will take the student’s name and number and ask what the student needs help with A psychiatrist will return the student’s call within 24-48 hours If a student decides that he or she would like to come in for an appointment, the front desk will call the student back to schedule (and will ask about insurance information) The student will receive a packet of information in the mail (OR via email or patient portal) and will be asked to fill out and bring the packet with them to the first appointment
What can a student expect at his or her first appointment? A psychiatrist will ask about the student’s concern and detailed questions about his or her life The first session will last 45-60 minutes; Follow up sessions may be 30-45 minutes Together the psychiatrist and student will create a plan of care with the goal of enhancing the student’s functioning
