Alcohol

What are my thoughts about alcohol?
Upon the teacher’s command, you will go to a station with a poster board and an alcohol-related image on it. For 1 minute, write comments on how that image makes you feel or any previous knowledge you have about the picture. You can comment on someone else’s comment also. Collaborate with team members as needed. Upon the teacher’s command, you will rotate to another station. You will complete all stations and posters will be shared as a class.

What Should I do? I’ve always wondered what alcohol tastes like. How would it make me feel? My mom left me home alone with my little brother for 30 minutes while she went on a quick jog in the neighborhood. There are several beers in the fridge. I can’t imagine that she would notice if one was missing.. What should I do?

Responding to Peer Pressure

What Should I do? On Saturday nights, my best friend Taylor is allowed to spend the night. Tonight, we are going to try to stay awake all night watching movies and playing video games. After finishing the first movie, we go into the kitchen to get snacks. Opening the fridge, Taylor sees my dad’s beer and dares me to take one. I’m not sure what to do? If my dad drinks several a night, would one hurt me? I don’t want to chicken out on a dare and look not cool. What should I do?

What Should I do? My parents let me go to my best friend’s house to celebrate graduating from 4th grade. There are only four of us, and we are having a blast playing outside in the woods. I overhear Vance tell John that he has beer in his backpack. I feel uncomfortable wondering if he will ask me to drink one. Later that day, Vance opens his backpack and pull out four beers. I’m not sure what to say, so I laugh and pretend to be confident. But I’m not and know I don’t want to drink it. What should I do?

Responding to Peer Pressure
Why would a 4th grader try alcohol? Why would a 4th grader say “No” to alcohol? Why is it important to learn how to say “No” in situations that you are being pressured?

Peer Pressure Think about a time when you were being pressured and successfully told someone “No.” How did you say it? What did you say? How did they respond?
