Hate Crime Awareness Week In life we have to accept authority even if we don’t agree with something.
National Event In life we have to accept authority even if we don’t agree with something.
What is a Hate Crime? A Hate Incident is any incident which the victim, or anyone else, thinks is based on someone's prejudice towards them because of their race, religion, sexual orientation, disability or because they are transgender. The Police will assess whether a crime has been committed under the heading “Hate Crime.” If convicted, the sentence that is passed will be significantly longer if it is classed as a Hate Crime. At Oakwood, our pupils often get it right. Occasionally someone gets it wrong. The LA has instructed schools in Rotherham to report incidents that they feel is a Hate Crime. This will then be assessed by the LA and could be passed onto the Police. Words that are spoken are your words and if used reflect your view on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability. If you hurtful words about these categories on posted on social media you could get a criminal record.
